Something amazing happened last weekend! I've been queueing up to play International Master John Bartholomew on the lichess plays streams on twitch. I'd played him once before and got roundly trounced, as one would expect.
But last weekend, on Sunday 24th October 2021. I played him again and… I won!
This was obviously a complete fluke. He sums it up well when he says he "fell asleep at the wheel". I was nervous, 3+0 ain't my normal blitz jam, I'm used to an increment. So the plan was to not outright lose and then not get behind on the clock. He made a mistake and got into time pressure. My conversion wasn't brilliant, at one point I failed to queen a pawn on the 7th rank. Ah well. A win is a win.
I should have gone right out and bought a lottery ticket.
