About Me

Software Stuff

I'm an particle-physicist-turned-software-developer. I'm interested in technical challanges. And I get really excited about projects that strive for the common good. If you're interested in the work part of my life, check out my resume or my linkedin profile.

Science Stuff

From 2012-2019 I did scientific research on ultra-high energy neutrinos and cosmic rays, primarily as a member of the ANITA collaboration (that's a charmingly ancient webpage of a collaboration that's still going strong).

I completed my PhD in particle physics at University College London in 2016. Suckers for punishment can find my PhD thesis online here. It won a prize.

I continued my research as a post-doc at UCLA until 2019. Doing anything substantive in modern astro-particle physics requires being a member of a pretty big collaboration, so you'll find me listed as a co-author on plenty of papers on the arxiv. I'm proud to say I was a lead author of this paper in particular. It's pretty heavy going so, TLDR, we didn't find anything statistically significant.

Chess Stuff

I play chess for Rose Forgrove chess club in Leeds. Results of my games from the various Leeds chess events are posted here. You can also find me in the English Chess Federation grading database.
